Where: British Columbia, Canada (49.6° N, 124.7° W: paleocoordinates 56.1° N, 94.4° W)
• coordinate stated in text
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Northumberland Formation (Nanaimo Group), Late/Upper Campanian (83.5 - 70.6 Ma)
• This outcrop was not large (about 10 metres of exposure), however extremely rich. The green shale fossil layer sits on top of a hard, grainier horizon dipping 15 degrees southerly overlaid with shale mostly devoid of any fossil, save some plant tracks. This lens varied in thickness from wispy up to approximately 15 cm thick, and it appears the deposition was from accumulated debris over time, and then covered over in a change of events. The Northumberland Formation holds the ammonite key index species Baculites occidentalis, Pachydiscus suciaensis, Nostoceras hornbyense of Late Campanian age.
